A while back I wrote a post about how hard it is to provide great support. It’s not a kids game and it’s not for the faint of heart. I have horror stories like you’d never believe.
777 permissions applied to all files and folders? More than once!
PHP 4.4? How is this even running? But yes!
Joomla nested neatly inside a wp-content directory? You betcha!
One thing that I failed to mention, is that despite all the craziness and stress that support can bring into your life, it can also be extremely rewarding.
Discovering the root of an issue that seasoned developers missed on their first pass is fun.
Hearing “Thank You” and “you saved the day” is super gratifying.
Having customers tweet about how the service you provided is “unparalleled” feels really damn good.
So yeah, support is hard. But it’s also rewarding.
